Annual Park Association Meeting

Dear BMA Members,

You are cordially invited to participate in the annual park association meeting on Monday, November 18th at 6:30pm. We will be meeting at the Baldwin United Methodist Church (Asbury Hall). Signs will be posted at the entrance.

As part of the meeting, we will conduct an election to fill three (3) board vacancies. It is requested that any interested person submit a short bio by November 10th to admin@baldwinmanor.org. This information will be compiled and shared with voters on election night. A ballot will be prepared with the submitted names to make the voting process run smoothly. Since there will be much to cover in the meeting, we cannot accept any new nominees that night. Any donating member is able to run for an open board position. If you wish to vote and haven’t donated yet this year, you may give your contribution at the door. We are looking for motivated people who have a sincere desire to better the park.

If there are any members who cannot attend the annual meeting, but would still like to vote, please send an email requesting an absentee ballot to: admin@baldwinmanor.org

Absentee ballots will be available on November 12th. Please submit completed ballot forms (must be received on or before November 18th) to: PO Box 98154, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 OR drop off at 4807 Baptist Road.

Light refreshments will be served at the meeting. We hope to see all of you there!

2019 Fall Clean-up

2019 Fall Clean-up

Our Fall Clean up day in the park is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th from 8:00am-3:00pm (Rain date will be Sunday, October 13th)

Please consider serving your community on this day. We need as many volunteers as possible to help remove debris, dead trees, rake leaves, trim back bushes and clean out the stream bed so that the park grounds are maintained properly. This all sounds like hard work, but the truth is when you are one of many, the load is light. An added benefit is experiencing a true sense of community by working alongside your neighbors and feeling a sense of accomplishment with each completed task. There is no obligation on the amount of time you need to give. Some are able to put in a full day while others only have an hour or two. We ask that you kindly RSVP for any time frame via the form below or send an email to: admin@baldwinmanor.org so that we have a rough head count. This helps us to properly plan for assigning tasks as well as the food and drinks that will be provided.

A few recommendations for Clean up Day:

  1. Make sure you label any tools you bring. Rakes, trimmers, hand saws, etc.

  2. Bring work gloves

  3. Dress in layers

This is also a great opportunity for students to earn volunteer/community service hours. Please direct any questions to admin@baldwinmanor.org.

Thank you!

Garden Club Meeting

Hello Neighbors,

Thank you to everyone who showed up for the first garden club meeting! We accomplished a lot that evening. We planted some new mums, started weeding the rain garden area, and attempted to replant some poplar trees (the conditions in the lower meadow were not conducive to digging).

The next garden club meeting is planned for this Sunday, September 22nd from 6:00-7:30pm. The weather is supposed to be great! I have 3 projects in mind:

  1. Plant bulbs and mums

  2. Continue to weed the rain garden area

  3. Prune and cut back bushes and trees at the planned pollinator garden site.

Please bring gardening gloves, a shovel, and a garden trowel. We will meet at the gazebo. I hope to see you all there.

Best,

Amber Hartung

Garden Club Meeting

Hello Neighbors,

Do you enjoy gardening and want to help beautify our neighborhood park? If yes, we would like to invite you to join the Baldwin Manor Garden Club. We plan to meet at the park meadow across from the Baldwin Community Church on Sunday, Aug. 25th at 6:30-8:00pm weather permitting.

We have some wonderful gardening plans and ideas. Our first garden project is a display pollinator garden with native flowers and shrubs. We also have plans for rain gardens and a xeriscape garden.

We are so excited to start making our greenspace a beautiful, natural setting for everyone in the community to utilize and enjoy.

You can sign up using the form below or you can email us at amberleemeek@gmail.com

We hope to see you there!
